Paulsen Responds to the Release of President Obama's 2013 Budget

Statement

Date: Feb. 13, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

This morning, President Obama introduced his Fiscal Year 2013 budget proposal, calling for tax hikes, record level spending increases, and more debt. Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, issued the following statement in response to the President's budget plan:

"I've heard families and small businesses in our community express the dire need for solutions to decrease our crushing debt and get Minnesotans back to work. Unfortunately, the President's budget proposes $47 trillion in spending over the next 10 years, while imposing a nearly $2 trillion tax increase on American families and small businesses. Adding trillions of dollars in new debt to fund wasteful Washington spending is not a viable solution to our nation's problems. Minnesota families deserve better than more budget gimmicks and broken promises. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to advance solutions which address our spending driven debt crisis and set us on a path to economic growth and prosperity."
