Today, as President Obama presented his proposed 2013 budget to the country, Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03), a freshman member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement:
"After years of tax-and-spend recklessness, the $15.3 trillion national debt is larger than our entire economy and threatens everyone's long-term economic security. Unfortunately, President Obama has decided to run against the facts, putting out a flippant proposal that would add $901 billion to the national debt in fiscal year 2013 and increase taxes by $1.9 trillion. This proposal disrespects hardworking taxpayers and disregards our obligations to future generations who will inherit this mess unless we change course. In the coming weeks, my colleagues and I on the Budget Committee will offer a strong, fact-based alternative. The choice is clear. We can follow the President toward a future of debt and decline or we can put election-politics aside and work toward a realistic plan of action."
