Issue Position: Abolishing Earmarks

Issue Position

I oppose the use of earmarks. In the current system there is no accountability for taxpayer money used under earmarks, which corrupt the political process and prevent the best use of budgeted funds. Money should only be spent on projects that make sense and bring in dollars to our economy. If an idea is worth funding, it should go through the normal appropriations process.
