Issue Position

The Federal Reserve has a dual mandate to maintain price stability and full employment, yet its actions have consistently produced neither. The Federal Reserve perpetuates the vicious spending cycle by purchasing U.S. debt. I acknowledge that our monetary policies should not be subject to shifting political winds, but every public official must be accountable for his or her actions. Decisions made by the Federal Reserve Board have had profound effects on the economy and have exceeded the intent of Congress in granting the Board its powers. Preserving our future economic security starts with protecting the value of our currency and therefore, as your United States Senator I will:

Support legislation authorizing and mandating an audit of the Federal Reserve Board.

Advocate policy proposals that will ensure a strong dollar

Favor legislation to clarify and restrict the role of this agency, which has been allowed to adopt and implement broad public policy beyond popular control.
