Issue Position: Nuclear Proliferation & Rogue Nations

It is an unthinkable nightmare to have nuclear weapons in the hands of Mahmud Ahmadinijad. Such a development would destabilize the world and could at some point be the trigger for a world wide nuclear conflagration. The Iranian leader has vowed to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. With nuclear weapons he could do so in short order. Such an attack on Israel would demand an American retaliatory response, which could draw Russia and China into the fray. This must never be allowed to happen. Appeasement is not and never has been the answer. We learned from WWII that we cannot reason with irrational leaders. They use diplomacy as a cover for their preparations for war, as Hitler did with Chamberlain. While we talked, Hitler armed himself. This lesson of history is lost to most liberal political leaders. Nations which support terrorism should be economically and diplomatically isolated. They should be made to suffer the consequences of promoting war and chaos instead of peace and prosperity.
