Rep. Sutton Issues Statement on State of the Union Address

Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (OH-13) issued the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union Address.

"We have less than a year left for this Congress to do its work. In that time, we have a chance to come together and turn rhetoric into common-sense results.

Recently, I was proud to introduce the "American Jobs First' initiative; a set of four bills that could begin the work of bringing this Congress together and creating new jobs. These bills aim at revitalizing our manufacturing sector and creating jobs by strengthening "Buy America' laws.

The "American Jobs First' initiative is just one example of what we can do to go beyond calling for bipartisan action, and truly act in a bipartisan way for the American people. Together, we can protect the middle-class from unnecessary tax hikes, create a level playing field for American businesses to compete, and provide a better future for our veterans.

While some may put importance on who a Member of Congress sits with at the State of the Union, the only thing that matters when the speech is done is who you stand up for. I will proudly stand up to make sure that working Ohioans, not just privileged millionaires and billionaires, are given a fair shake and a fair chance at the American dream."
