U.S. Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) today released the following statement following the State of the Union address:
"Tonight President Obama gave us more of the same -- sweeping rhetoric, and no substance. If President Obama has all of the accomplishments he's touting then why is unemployment so high, and the debt so steep? Millions more Americans are out of work today than when President Obama took office, despite his pledge to keep unemployment below eight percent. The debt has nearly doubled, while President Obama promised to cut it in half. How can our economy improve when spending is still out of control? In fact, today marked the thousandth day since the Senate Democrats have passed a budget. Meanwhile, House Republicans have sent more than 30 jobs bills with support from both sides of the aisle to the Senate and 27 of them still await action. Enough rhetoric; it is past time for action."
