Oregon can be a leader in natural and renewable alternatives. We need renewable energy policies that are cost-effective and energy efficient. In 67 days of Columbia River water flow, there is enough hydrogen to equal the remaining oil reserves of Saudi Arabia. Hydrogen energy is one example of using Oregon's unique resources, allowing for the production and storage of this clean-burning fuel. The process and by-product are environmentally friendly and utilize our existing natural resource economy while reducing reliance on petroleum. I lead a bi-partisan group of legislators in passing legislation, promoting hydrogen hubs and creating partnerships so we become a world leader in a new hydrogen economy
