U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC) announced this week on Twitter that she and Republican Senator John McCain from Arizona will cross the aisle to sit together at next week's State of the Union.
"As the Second Session of the 112th Congress begins in Washington, I remain committed to overcoming the destructive partisan bickering that prevented progress on a host of important issues for the American people," said Hagan. "With this in mind, I am delighted to begin the session by sitting with Senator John McCain of Arizona during the President's State of the Union Address on January 24th. As colleagues on the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, John and I work together closely on a range of national security issues because we know that bipartisan cooperation is essential to achieving principled and pragmatic results for the American people."
