Rep. Duffy Introduces Patient Centered Health Care Savings Act

U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (R-07) introduced the Patient Centered Healthcare Savings Act (PCHSA). Upon taking office, Congressman Duffy pledged to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare. This new legislation makes good on that promise. This legislation fully repeals the President's health care law and replaces it with common sense ideas to reduce cost and increase access to affordable health care for all Americans.

"Making health care more affordable for all Americans must be our focus. The President's health care overhaul failed to reduce costs or create a sustainable system," Duffy said. "The Patient Centered Healthcare Savings Act will increase accessibility, make health care more affordable and put the decisions back in the hands of patients -- not unelected Washington bureaucrats.

This health care plan includes original ideas, collaborative ideas proposed by other Members of Congress, and keeps common-sense ideas included in the 2009 health care legislation.

"I applaud Representative Duffy for introducing a serious plan to help improve our nation's broken health care system," former Executive Director of Marshfield Clinic Reed Hall said. "Representative Duffy's bill goes a long way towards creating a workable, common-sense, patient centered health care system."

The PCHSA improves health care quality, access and affordability by:

Ending junk lawsuits with medical liability reform;

Allowing individuals to purchase health care across state lines;

Promoting transparency and competition in health care;

Expanding the effectiveness of Health Savings Accounts;

Covering people with pre-existing conditions, removing lifetime coverage caps,
and expanding access to care; and

Ending Medicare waste, fraud and abuse.
