Larson Statement on Defense Strategic Review

Statement

Date: Jan. 5, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the strategic review released by the Department of Defense today:

"As the Secretary of Defense said today, we face a "complex and growing array of security challenges" that must be met. So I'm glad to see that the Department of Defense recognizes the need to make smart, strategic overall cuts and shrink the footprint of our expansive military presence around the world while ensuring that we continue to meet our commitments and working to maintain our innovative technological industrial base that is so critical to our national security.

"I was especially heartened to hear the Deputy Secretary for Acquisitions say the Defense Department wants the F-35 program and they want it to succeed. It is programs like that, with collaborative effort from all of the services and the best our industry can produce, that when combined with the great strength of our men and women in uniform will keep America strong for years to come."
