Congressman Steve Womack released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 2055, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act:
"I am pleased we have passed this important funding bill for 2012--which allows us to avoid multiple continuing resolutions and moves us closer to regular order in our appropriations process. Further, it takes out of the equation the threat of government shutdowns which contribute to the anxiety of the electorate and the markets.
"By no means is this the ideal spending bill. We still have much work to do to cut spending, reduce the size and scope of government, protect our freedoms, and create jobs. But this measure is a step in that direction.
"I am proud of the work of our Appropriations Committee--specifically the leadership of Chairman Rogers and ranking member Dicks--and look forward to our work in 2012."
