Congressman Carson Votes to Protect Indianapolis Job Seekers and Seniors

Press Release

Congressman André Carson today voted against H.R. 3630, a measure that drastically cuts unemployment insurance benefits from 99 weeks down to 59 weeks and adds unnecessary obstacles to benefit eligibility. The bill also raises the cost of healthcare for millions of seniors and risks valuable tax cuts for 160 million Americans.

"Hardworking families in Indianapolis do not have time for political games," Congressman Carson said. "We cannot afford to make sweeping cuts to unemployment insurance benefits when so many Hoosiers are out of work, and we cannot stand for measures that hike up healthcare costs for millions of seniors."

Carson went on to say, "We need a plan that addresses the true concerns of our constituents, not divisive partisanship that will do nothing to help average Americans."
