Congressman Bob Gibbs Announces over $10 Million in Flood Relief for Ohio

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Bob Gibbs, a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced that The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will provide Ohio with $10,248,704 to cover the costs of repairing roads and bridges damaged by the abnormal rainfall and severe storms that began in April 2011 and continued through May 2011.

"Maintaining our nation's transportation system is one of government's core responsibilities and these Emergency Relief funds will help continue our efforts to rebuild and recover from the flooding we experienced earlier this year," said Congressman Gibbs. "Ohio's surface transportation system serves as the backbone of our economy and is critical to the state's overall social and economic well-being. Rebuilding and maintaining our roadways that were damaged will ensure that commerce moves efficiently and will help our businesses prosper and create jobs. Additionally, this funding will help ensure that Ohio families have access to a safe and reliable transportation system."
