I wish everyone in the 11th Congressional District of New York a Happy Thanksgiving. As a native New Yorker, I know our ability to withstand hardships and stay resilient in difficult times. As we spend time with our families during this holiday season, we should recognize the sacrifices being made by thousands of troops serving overseas and their families. I am grateful that all of our combat troops will be coming back from Iraq by the end of the year. I am also grateful to the many first responders and thousands of workers that support our way of life. Finally, I would like to express my appreciation for members of the clergy and other leaders of the religious community of all faiths. You not only provide spiritual and emotional guidance, but often serve as a safety net for a wide variety of services. Again, I encourage all residents to take the time to give thanks.
