Reaction to Super Committee Failure

Statement

Date: Nov. 21, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Rick Crawford released the following statement today after learning that the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction failed to reach a compromise on cutting $1.2 trillion from the national debt.

"Americans deserve more than failed leadership from Washington. From the outset of this process President Obama has been unengaged and uninterested in the Super Committee's success. Congressional leaders must be willing to work together for our country to move forward. America deserves better than what we got from the Super Committee," said Crawford. "Our military is facing massive cuts that put our national security on the line. We cannot forget the commitment we have made to seniors with Social Security and Medicare. I am frustrated with the political bickering and lack of solutions coming from Washington."

"For my part I am going to buckle down and redouble efforts to avoid crippling our military and hurting our greatest generation. Neither of these options is acceptable. If there were ever a time for Members of Congress to put their country ahead of their political party, now is that time."
