U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the unwarranted incarceration by the Cuban regime of U.S. citizen Alan Gross, which began two years ago on December 3, 2009. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
"Alan Gross has now watched two years of his life slip away as a prisoner of the brutal Cuban tyranny. His incarceration is unjustified, and reflects the true nature of a paranoid dictatorship which is constantly scheming to cling to power by any means necessary.
"The unwarranted imprisonment of a U.S. citizen is a flagrant demonstration by the regime in Havana that they have no desire to turn over a new leaf, and no intention of ceasing their anti-American activities.
"Gross' health has severely deteriorated during his time spent in the Cuban gulag. I once again reiterate my call for the immediate and unconditional release of Alan Gross."
