Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Challenge to Obama's Health Care Law

On Monday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments over whether or not key components of President Obama's health care law are constitutional, and if so, whether the entire law should be upheld.

Senator McConnell said, "Throughout the debate, Senate Republicans have argued that this misguided law represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional expansion of the federal government into the daily lives of every American. Most Americans agree. In both public surveys and at the ballot box, Americans have rejected the law's mandate that they must buy government-approved health insurance, and I hope the Supreme Court will do the same."

In August, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the individual mandate requiring every American to have health insurance was unconstitutional. Earlier this year, Senator McConnell joined 43 of his colleagues and filed an amicus brief in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of the bipartisan, multi-state challenge to the President's health spending law.
