Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today announced that he will join FreedomWorks and more than 200 leading tea party activists in participating in the Tea Party Debt Commission this Thursday, November 17th. The Tea Party Debt Commission consists of 12 members, paralleling the structure of the "super-committee." The Commission will unveil and discuss their "Tea Party Budget", which outlines specific cuts to federal spending.

"This week, our federal debt will hit $15 trillion, a number that is both unfathomable and unacceptable," said Congressman Broun. "The time to make deep and meaningful cuts in our federal budget has long since passed, so I applaud FreedomWorks and the Tea Party for taking matters into their own hands by putting together this Commission. I look forward to learning more about what the members of the Commission have to offer, and to sharing some of my recommendations for ways we can save money in every corner of the federal budget. We must make real strides toward cutting spending immediately and prioritize paying down our massive $15 trillion debt."
