Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) signed a letter thanking Florida Congressman Cliff Stearns for initiating a congressional investigation of Planned Parenthood through the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The investigation will examine Planned Parenthood's practices and policies, as well as its handling of federal funding. Currently, Planned Parenthood receives $363 million from taxpayers annually.

There have been documented and alleged cases of fraud and abuse within Planned Parenthood. The allegations include the misuse of federal funds and failure to comply with mandatory reporting laws for child sexual abuse. In addition, Planned Parenthood employees have assisted those allegedly engaged in sex-trafficking of young girls.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, "As a fellow member of the Florida Congressional delegation, Cliff Stearns has always been a principled leader. His decision to initiate a congressional investigation on Planned Parenthood is timely and underscores his commitment to our community. The American people should not be subsidizing an organization that not only misuses taxpayer funds, but also turns a blind eye to vulnerable girls who are being preyed upon."
