House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court's decision to hear the case against the constitutionality of the president's health care law.
"The entire government overhaul of America's health care system -- forced through Congress by the previous Democrat majority -- is a threat to the quality, affordability, and accessibility of care in this country," said Chairman Price. "That the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the challenges to the new law is welcome news. At the start of this Congress, House Republicans fulfilled our pledge to repeal this law as a whole -- an effort that was stopped in the Democrat-led Senate. As the Supreme Court hears this case, House Republicans will continue our efforts to eliminate the law in its entirety so that we might replace it with positive reforms that respect the rights of individuals to make personal health care decisions with their doctors. Patient-centered solutions will not only protect, preserve, and promote the doctor-patient relationship but they will also avoid the unnecessary and costly damage that will be done to our health care system and our economy by the President's misguided policies."
