Congressman Pascrell's Statement in Reaction to Reports of the Death of Libyan Dictator Moammar Gadhafi

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-8), an original member of the House Homeland Security Committee, in reaction to reports of the death of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

"News of Gadhafi's demise brings to mind all those who suffered under his thuggish regime, especially those who perished on Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988 as well as their families and friends," said Pascrell. "Gadhafi's death brings an end to this chapter of the Arab Spring. While we salute the brave Libyan people who fought to take control of their nation's destiny, the United States and its allies must be prepared to help Libya write the next chapter, and aid this new government in reaching its potential to become a self-sustaining, freedom-loving, sovereign democracy."
