Today, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) joined Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Rand Paul (R-KY), and other Republican Senators, to announce the Jobs Through Growth Act, the Republican alternative to President Obama's plan.

"Right now, the government is spending too much, borrowing too much, regulating too much, and taxing too much," said Sen. Hutchison. "We can fix that with this Republican alternative jobs proposal being introduced today. Unfortunately, the President's plan is more of the same and does nothing new. Our plan is the way to go to spur the economy and create jobs."

"When I talk to small business people in my state and throughout the country, the thing that is scaring them to death about hiring is healthcare costs and our bill contains the elements to fix this situation."

"It is also very important that we open our energy industry; there are thousands of jobs that are moving overseas because we have a basic moratorium on drilling for oil and gas. That will change with this bill."
