Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) participated in the La Quinta Extension Dredging Kick-off. Joining Rep. Farenthold at the event was Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-07), state representatives Todd Hunter and Connie Scott as well as numerous other local officials. Congressman Farenthold told those attending the event that the La Quinta project was another step forward for the Coastal Bend in bringing to reality the potential the area has long enjoyed.
"The extension of the La Quinta Channel is a major step towards the improved future development of the Port of Corpus Christi, the fifth largest port in the United States. The La Quinta extension will provide billions in business revenues, create thousands of jobs and contribute to the economic recovery of South Texas," said Congressman Farenthold. At a time when we face high unemployment, the Federal government must encourage job creators to put Americans back to work" said Farenthold.
"The La Quinta Channel Extension Dredging Project will expand what is already one of the premier ports of the United States, bringing new investment and jobs to South Texas. The La Quinta Ship Channel project is a prime example of how private and public sectors can share a vision of new economic possibilities -- which will create jobs here and throughout the country," Congressman Henry Cuellar said.
