Issue Position

Quality education is the backbone of any successful community and it is critical that we make sure Louisiana's youth aren't left behind, continuously ranking amongst the bottom in national test scores. While there are many different issues that can affect the outcomes of our public education system, I am a firm believer that increased accountability leads to increased results. That is why, as Senator, I have voted for and authored legislation that creates more stringent assessment programs for teachers and administrations on the secondary and post-secondary levels and have been an outspoken advocate for accountability on the Senate Education Committee. I have also worked to streamline administrative costs in our colleges and universities, allowing more money to go towards the students.
