Location: Washington, DC

Republican Congressman Jeff Flake, who represents Arizona's Sixth District, today applauded the passage of H.R. 2401, the Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation Act of 2011, or "TRAIN" Act. The bill halts the implementation of burdensome regulations for coal-fired power plants mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and commissions a study on the costs and impact on jobs of new EPA rules faced by the power sector. An independent economic analysis estimates that if implemented, these regulations would cost job creators approximately $18 billion.

"We ought to take a more thorough look into the long-term economic effects of these regulations before we levy job creators with the multi-billion dollar price tag to implement them," said Flake. "In this economic environment, we don't need more barriers to economic growth and job creation."
