Franks Calls Turner NY-09 Victory Backlash Against Obama Policies Failures

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Republican Bob Turner won the special election to fill the 9th Congressional District seat vacated by former Democrat Representative Anthony Weiner. Responding to the outcome, Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) released the following statement:

"First, I congratulate Republican Bob Turner on his momentous victory last night in a District that has been held exclusively by Democrats for nearly a century.

"The results of this election, which was deemed by many so-called experts a foregone conclusion in favor of Democrats, demonstrate that the 2010 elections were not a fluke, but were a backlash against President Obama's abject failure to lead -- a failure that has resulted in tremendous dissatisfaction among the American people, regardless of their individual political affiliation.

"Unless the President heeds the clear messages coming from the American people, he may also soon find himself unemployed, like the millions of Americans whose jobs were a casualty of this Obama economy."
