Roby Examines Methods to Improve Public School Accountability

U.S. Representative Martha Roby recently participated in an Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee hearing regarding state and local efforts to improve public school accountability. Members of the Education and the Workforce Committee raised questions to hearing witnesses about the importance of public school accountability, successful state and local approaches to accountability, and the appropriate federal role in the education process.

As a Member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, Rep. Roby is dedicated to finding ways to remove unnecessary federal interference to improve Alabama school systems. She supports implementing innovative accountability systems in schools to increase transparency, engage parents and community members, and raise the bar for school success.

During the hearing, she delivered her personal account of innovative ways to engage parents in the education process in order to produce greater school accountability.

Rep. Roby directed questions to witness Dr. Jay Greene, the 21st Century Professor of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas, following his testimony on proven methods that promote better accountability in schools.
