Sen. Hutchison's Statement on the President's Deficit Reduction Plan

Statement

Date: Sept. 19, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) issued the following statement in response to the President's remarks on his deficit reduction plan:

"The President's insistence on future tax increases is discouraging and counterproductive. Given the state of the economy today, we shouldn't be talking about higher taxes. We need to give business people the confidence that the economic picture is going to improve. Small businesses and investors need certainty -- right now -- that tax and regulatory burdens aren't going to get worse."
