McCarthy Statement On House Passage Of The Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act

Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement in support of the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act (H.R. 2587):

"House Republicans over the past weeks and months have spoken with small business owners and entrepreneurs -- the engines of job creation in this country -- about the obstacles they face. We've heard their overwhelming response: the uncertainty caused by the threat of pending and current regulations coupled with higher taxes holds back expansion and new hiring that we need to fuel economic growth. The targeting of Boeing by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is a prime example of Big Government inhibiting private sector growth. The federal government should not be telling private businesses where they can and cannot create jobs in the United States.

"The Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act that passed the House today will prohibit the NLRB from ordering any employer to relocate, shut down or transfer employment under any circumstance. Overregulation and the threat of tax increases from the White House continue to stall plans of small business owners to expand or hire new employees. Private sector growth thrives when it is free of the restraints of government, and that is why House Republicans have focused our fall jobs agenda on removing costly and burdensome regulations proposed by President Obama and his Administration.

"Today's vote is another step forward in our efforts to remove federal regulations that are preventing private sector growth and ensure that job creators are provided more certainty and opportunity."
