Blog: Success Story

Date: Sept. 9, 2011

Today our campaign released a new television ad highlighting one of the many economic development wins we've announced.

During these last three and a half years, we've focused on creating an environment within which businesses can relocate and expand, and we've been traveling across Louisiana announcing economic wins. I'm sure you've heard of or been part of a win in your area, but I wanted to share with you the story of one in particular.

Back in early 2010, we announced that Aeroframe would be expanding its operations at Chennault International Airport by adding 300 new jobs, and adding them very quickly at that. That's where Louisiana FastStart, the #1 workforce development program in the nation according to Business Facilities magazine, stepped in to help.

Working with the Louisiana Workforce Commission and SOWELA Technical Community College, FastStart was able to help Aeroframe not only met their need for quality workers but surpass it. In fact, we went back to Lake Charles just last month to announce that Aeroframe had created 475 jobs and is expected to reach total employment of 650 workers by 2013.

As you watch the ad, remember that economic development wins like this are taking place all across our great state and that we've announced wins that will result in 45,000 new jobs and more than $10 billion in capital investment for our people.

That's why Louisiana's economy continues to outperform the state and national averages and why Southern Business & Development magazine recently named Louisiana "State of the Year" for the third straight year.

I'm proud of how far our state has come these last few years, but there is still more work to be done to build a better Louisiana for future generations.

Sincerely,

Governor Bobby Jindal
