Costello Statement on President Obama's Speech on the American Jobs Act

Statement

Date: Sept. 8, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Infrastructure

U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) issued the following statement in response to President Obama's speech on the American Jobs Act to a joint session of Congress:

"I look forward to reviewing the details of the President's proposal, and I continue to support the President's call for increased investment in our country's infrastructure. We absolutely need to maintain and improve our nation's roads, bridges, airports, railways and ports. Every $1 billion spent on infrastructure creates more than 34,000 jobs and $6.1 billion in economic activity. Not only will we put thousands of people to work immediately, but we will have long-term economic assets that make our economy more efficient."
