Ros-Lehtinen Urges President to Send Job-Creating Free Trade Agreements to Congress for Approval

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement today on the President's claim that pending Free Trade Agreements between the U.S. and Colombia, Panama, and South Korea, respectively, are being held up by Congress:

"It is perplexing that the President is blaming Congress for delaying the enactment of three pending free trade agreements when he has yet to even submit them to Congress. Members of Congress who want to stimulate the economy and create jobs have been urging President Obama to get behind final passage of these agreements since the beginning of his term.

"We've been waiting for these agreements, and the jobs that they will help produce, for far too long. My South Florida Congressional district is just one that will hope to see new jobs and new economic opportunities once these agreements are finally enacted.

"I urge the President to submit these agreements to Congress and support their enactment as soon as possible. We're ready to finish the job."
