U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC) today announced she would tour eastern North Carolina this week to survey damage from Hurricane Irene. Further details about times and locations will be available soon.
"Our coastal communities in North Carolina were hit hard by Hurricane Irene," said Hagan. "My prayers right now are with the families of those who lost a loved one in the storm. I am in contact with the Governor and the White House, and my staff and I are coordinating with emergency managers on the ground to ensure the federal government provides assistance in a timely and effective manner. My office is ready now to assist those who need help with the federal claim-filing process.
"Our emergency response teams continue to work day and night to assist those in urgent need. To those in areas affected by the storm, please remain vigilant of dangers such as flooding and downed power lines. Safety is our number one priority. Although this storm was strong, North Carolinians are stronger."
