Petri Comments on Debt Ceiling Vote

Issues: Government Budget and Spending
Following House approval of Speaker John Boehner's debt ceiling bill, Rep. Tom Petri made the following comment:
"I am pleased to get this behind us, but it's only a step in the process. It's important to get this legislation to the Senate, but I don't think they will pass it. The Senate will come up with something else, and then we will be confronted with a vote on a compromise between the House and Senate sometime this weekend or early next week."
The House approved Speaker Boehner's debt ceiling plan by a vote of 218 - 210.
