Harkin Announces More than $1.7 Million for the Mason City Municipal Airport

Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced today that the Mason City Municipal Airport will receive $1,744,742 to begin construction of an aircraft rescue and firefighting building. This funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The funding will go toward the construction of an aircraft rescue and firefighting building to house and protect needed equipment. Harkin is a member of the Appropriations subcommittee that funds the DOT.

"This grant is vital to maintain a high level of safety at the Mason City Municipal Airport," Harkin said. "The protection of essential rescue and fire equipment is crucial for the safety of passengers and workers in air travel. I congratulate the airport on this competitive funding."
