Issue Position

While the American economy is beginning to show signs of recovery, millions of Americans remain unemployed, homeowners remain at risk and credit markets remain tight. During these uncertain economic times I support policies that protect those at risk. That is why I support extending unemployment insurance, creating jobs through investments in infrastructure and promoting small business opportunities.

I also believe all Americans should have access to health care, job training programs, quality child care and affordable housing as they confront the challenges of the current economy. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I have fought to increase funding for social service programs that provide these essential services to American families in need.
