I came to Washington to help sort out the endemic problem of overspending and irresponsible use of taxpayers' hard earned dollars. The primary budget-breakers are mandatory spending programs such as Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security and reforms of these programs must be on the table in any further budget discussions. In 2010, Mandatory spending accounted for 58 percent of total federal budget. Without reforms to these programs, and without ending the endless cycle of tax and spend employed by Congress for far too long, our great nation will never regain its fiscal footing.
I will continue to find ways to reduce wasteful Federal spending. Every day Americans are forced to make hard choices when it comes to their families budget, it's time that their government made those same choices instead of placing the fiscal burden of reckless spending on future generations.
