U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, today issued the following statement upon the House Committee on Energy and Commerce unanimously passing his bipartisan bill to reauthorize critical chemical and bioterrorism preparedness programs. H.R. 2405 has now been reported to the full U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.
"Nearly a decade has passed since 9/11, the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil in history. And while there has not been a successful attack on U.S. soil in the last ten years, our enemies are still working every day to kill innocent Americans.
"Thankfully, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce has passed a bill I wrote that would strengthen federal efforts to stockpile medical countermeasures and protect the public from pandemics, or a chemical or biological attack. I look forward to the House passing it once it reaches the floor for a vote."
