Issue Position: Spending Cuts and Debt

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2011

Years of reckless spending has left our nation trillions of dollars in debt. It is critical that we restore principles of fiscal conservatism back to our nation's capitol. I am committed to ending the borrow and spend cycle that has gone on for too long in Washington. Just like every family, the government must learn to live within its means.

Our fiscal problems cannot be solved with more government commissions designed to shield politicians from making the tough choices now. Congress and the White House must work together to reach an agreement on budget reforms to rein in spending, cut waste and tackle the growth of key entitlement programs that pose our government's greatest fiscal challenge. We must return our nation to a point of fiscal solvency for the future of our children and grandchildren.
