Our healthcare delivery system is badly in need of reform especially when it comes to affordability and broader access to care. But creating a massive new government program that places an unsustainable burden on taxpayers is not the answer. Healthcare decisions should remain between doctors and patients, not government bureaucrats. By stimulating competition and innovation through our existing free enterprise system, we can improve the quality of and access to healthcare without the intrusiveness of government intervention. These goals can be accomplished by making insurance more portable, by creating tax incentives for robust health savings accounts, and pushing for tort reform to reduce the cost of practicing medicine.
