Providing quality education to all students of the 29th District is extremely important to me. I believe in helping each child achieve his or her full and unique potential. I want to give students the tools and knowledge to succeed in the 21st century. We need to ensure America's educational system is the best in the world, and I believe we have the ability to make that happen.
I firmly support the Tenth Amendment and will fight to restore local control to our school districts. Standards and curriculum should be set by states and local educators. The federal government does not know better than those who work with our children every day. I also feel we need to place more responsibility on parents and empower them to really get involved in their children's education. They should have a larger role in selecting and participating in the learning environment that works best for their family. Another important point is allowing teachers to teach by removing red tape. We need to let them teach according to their students' needs and do so creatively. Finally, I believe in protecting our taxpayers by eliminating programs that don't work.
We should be investing in our students by allowing teachers to teach and parents to be directly involved in the education of their children.
