Letter to the Honorable Shaun Donovan, Secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development - Hayworth Calls for Efficient and Effective Westchester County Housing Settlement Resolution

Dear Secretary Donovan:

On August 10, 2009, Westchester County, New York, settled a lawsuit brought under the Federal Torts Claim Act by the Anti-Discrimination Center of Metro New York. Pursuant to this settlement, Westchester County is required to undertake a number of activities intended to increase fair access to affordable housing. Both the recipients of affordable housing and taxpayers in Westchester County will benefit from the settlement being implemented in the least burdensome and most cost effective manner possible. I urge the Department of Housing and Urban Development to work with Westchester County to implement the settlement in an effective and efficient manner. Toward this goal, I very much encourage and appreciate your participation in a July 27, 2011 meeting with Westchester County regarding this critical topic.
