Hayworth Supports Sensible Cut, Cap, and Balance Act

Statement

Date: July 19, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Constitution

Rep. Nan Hayworth, M.D. (NY-19) issued the following statement today after voting in support of H.R. 2560, the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act. The bill cuts $111 billion in FY 2012, places firm caps on future spending, and -- contingent upon House and Senate passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment -- grants President Obama's request for a debt limit increase:

"I am proud to have joined our House majority to pass the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act. Cut, Cap, and Balance is a great way to deal with our debt and deficit crisis: by bringing a federal government that has grown far too large and costly to a size that makes sense for all Americans. This bill does what the families in the 19th District have been doing --tightening our belts and managing with the resources we have, spending less and planning sensibly for the future. Now we need to push the Senate and the President to make Cut, Cap, and Balance the law, so that our dollars can go to work growing the economy and creating jobs."
