Chairman John Mica, Subcommittee Chairman Bill Shuster Agree To Hold Hearing

Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today announced that, at his request, the House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials will hold a hearing on pipeline safety and the Yellowstone River pipe leak from an ExxonMobil pipeline over the weekend. Committee Chairman John Mica (FL-07) and Subcommittee Chairman Bill Shuster (PA-09) agreed to Rehberg's request last night.

"Montanans deserve to know what went wrong, what went right and what can be done to prevent something like this from happening again," said Rehberg, a member of the House Energy and Water Appropriations Committee. "Right now, there's a lot of energy being focused on minimizing the damage from this spill, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I appreciate the rapid response to this request by Chairman Mica and Chairman Shuster."

The Hearing will be held on Thursday, July 14.
