Congressman Canseco's Statement on June Jobs Report

Statement

Date: July 8, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Francisco "Quico" Canseco, a former small businessman and a member of the House Financial Services Committee, released the following statement in reaction to today's jobs report released by the Department of Labor for the month of June:

"Today's report that the economy only created 18,000 jobs and that the unemployment rate rose yet again, to 9.2%, is a clear indicator that the policies of attempting to spend and tax our way to economic prosperity pursued by President Obama and Washington liberals have not worked. Instead of stimulating the economy and creating jobs, President Obama's policies have merely stimulated our national debt to an astounding $14.3 trillion, or $121,662 per American household. More debt means more uncertainty, and more uncertainty means fewer jobs," said Congressman Canseco.

"Washington and more government are not the solution to our economic woes, they are the problem. To get our economy back on track and creating jobs we need to remove the uncertainty in the economy that has been created by policies coming from Washington. This means that we must get serious about reining in out-of-control federal spending, keeping taxes low, promoting the expanded production of American energy, and removing the federal regulatory burden on job creators," concluded Congressman Canseco.
