Today's announcement of rising unemployment numbers falls on the 800th day since Senate Democrats have refused to pass a budget. With a paltry 18,000 jobs created in June, the lowest number in nine months, it's time for President Obama and the Democrats to acknowledge that their fiscal policies have failed, and they need to work with Republicans on getting Americans back to work.
Since Fiscal Year 2008, federal spending has increased by a staggering 28%. We need to roll back job-killing regulations and create a true free market, pro-growth environment. Eliminating the job of a single regulator contributes to the $6.2 million to the American economy and creates nearly 100 new private sector jobs per year. The federal government must not place additional tax burdens on the American people as President Obama and the Democrats in Congress are proposing. Raising taxes will only stifle job creation and slow economic growth.
The unemployment rate has been over eight percent for the past 29 months. I hope President Obama and the Democrats will take these disturbing numbers to heart and engage in a serious discussion about our nation's debt crisis.
