Statement on June Jobs Figures

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Scalise today released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the unemployment rate for June rose to 9.2 percent nationwide and U.S. employers added only 18,000 jobs in June.

"Today's unemployment figures are further proof that the radical policies and reckless spending by the Obama Administration have failed to get our economy back on track and are directly responsible for more lost jobs in America," Scalise said. "President Obama needs to finally recognize that doubling-down on his failed agenda of raising taxes, imposing radical regulations, and spending money we don't have has been a dismal failure that has led to higher unemployment and debt. It is time for President Obama and liberals in the Senate to embrace the multiple bills passed by House Republicans to create jobs, control spending, and get our economy back on track."
