Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL), Chief Deputy Whip, issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released their June jobs report showing the national unemployment rate rose to 9.2%:
"Today's jobs report is the latest disappointing reminder that the Obama economy is not working for America. It's been 29 months since the stimulus first passed, yet trillions in debt later, unemployment is 9.2% -- far above the 8% peak promised by this Administration.
"Washington's spending problem continues to create barriers to job creation, yet Democrats simply want more of the same failed policies: higher taxes and continuing the spending binge. That's exactly what got us 9.2% unemployment, a potential double-dip recession, and our backbreaking debt. Businesses and job creators of all kinds are desperate for a change in Washington's policies. The question is when will the White House recognize that their policies have to change in order for our economy to grow again?"
