Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today released the following statement after President Obama announced his intention to recall 33,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2012:

"In the final analysis, the President should avoid taking the political 'path of least resistance' and lean heavily on the expert opinions of his military advisors. While all Americans want the war in Afghanistan to be over soon, I would trust the advice of General Petraeus and other senior military leaders as to how many troops should come home and how soon."
